Drop a gear on a Porsche with a rear engine on a great enough of a straightaway and something rather interesting happens. In the video below, Magnus Walker explains the Magnus effect (which may or may not be named after him on the account that it may or may not be made up), and why the phenomenon can cause a Porsche with even a little engine to swerve so dramatically (but not necessarily from its expected path, because that would be dangerous and bad).

There is a magnus effect, yay Physics, it has to do with airflow around a spinning object though. So things like curveballs and such can be explained using it.

Not gonna watch a half hour for the payoff. I know what the Magnus effect is; I don’t expect that hearing about its tenuous pun-based connection to controlled overrotation is worth the effort.

As far as I can tell the Magnus Effect is the effect by which the popularity of one offbeat individual causes a massive price peak of a particular car while simultaneously causing further ego polishing by that car’s enthusiasts and increasing the rose-tintedness of journalists...
Nah, I actually like Magnus Walker a lot. He seems like a genuine guy. I just don’t like Porsche elitism...
